Don Franklin III, M.D., ABOS, FAAOS

Dr. Don Franklin III is a fellowship-trained Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement, arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery, as well as complex trauma and fracture care. Common injuries and ailments that Dr. Franklin treats include arthritis of the shoulder, hip, and knee, rotator cuff and labrum tears, ACL and meniscus tears, fractures of the wrist, shoulder, hip, and ankle, as well as carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, and trigger finger.

Dr. Franklin was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Samford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Business. He was also a four-year NCAA Division I scholarship member of the golf team. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee.

His Orthopaedic Surgery residency training was completed at the prestigious Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics in Memphis, Tennessee. The Campbell Clinic was one of the pioneer training programs in the country and publishes one of the best-selling Orthopaedic Surgery textbooks worldwide. After residency, Dr. Franklin moved to Taos, New Mexico, for his Sports Medicine fellowship. During fellowship, he managed a plethora of complex ligamentous knee and shoulder injuries related to ski, snowboard, and mountain biking accidents. He also began his affiliation with the United States Ski & Snowboard Association, for whom he serves as a Team Physician with the Women's Alpine (Downhill) Team, traveling worldwide with Olympic ski racers to training camps and events.

Dr. Franklin is Board Certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS). He spends his free time fly fishing and skiing. 

Dr. Franklin is accepting new patients and currently holds clinic locations in Mountain Home, Salem, and West Plains.
